Presidents Trump Signs Three Executive Orders Imposing Tariffs

On Saturday evening, President Trump signed three executive orders to impose new tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China starting Tuesday, February 4.  New 25% duties will apply to all imports from Mexico and Canada, with Canadian energy exports facing a reduced 10% duty rate.  A separate 10% duty, on top of any pre-existing tariffs, will apply to Chinese products.

Agriculture Use Fuel Refunds

The Department of Licensing is working to launch a refund program for farmers that paid fees on agricultural use fuels that should not have had additional cap and trade carbon surcharge fees added. Please read the attached document from the Department of Licensing and don't miss your opportunity to get a refund for up to $3,600 in added fees and surcharges that were collected when farmers purchased fuels that qualify.

Dear Patron –

Your staff at HighLine Grain Growers spends a lot of time and effort to keep transportation costs as low as possible for you, our patron.  Each year at this time, we adjust our off-coast rates to reflect current freight conditions.  We’ve finalized this process over the holiday weekend and these adjustments will take effect today, July 5th, 2022.  Spiking fuel prices have forced transportation providers to implement fuel surcharges.  To manage this volatility, HighLine Grain Growers will implement a fuel surcharge to reflect these conditions.  This will allow your transportation costs to drop if fuel prices decline moving forward.  This fuel surcharge will be applied to your settlement when title passes and will be adjusted monthly.

These market conditions are affecting each elevator differently.  Please call your local office for details.

Question:

Can I sell wheat before my crop divisions are complete?

Answer:

YES  Even with the WSDA FN testing delays (10-14 days average), you still have the option to sell and "Lock-in" current day market pricing.  Sell wheat when YOU think the time is right and call your office for details or questions.  We will process those sales as efficiently as possible upon receipt of final grading.  Thanks for your patience and understanding!"
